The Philippine economy grew by 6.8pc in 2016 while the hotel construction boom in the Philippines continues with 50 upcoming hotels translating to 13,334 hotel rooms as of August 2016, according to figures provided by data and analytics specialist STR Global. Moreover, the continuous growth of tourism arrivals has helped propel the projected growth of Metro Manila hotels in the next three years. The Department of Tourism records a total of 5,390,367 visitors from January to November 2016, surpassing the year-end arrivals in 2015 of 5,360,682. This volume is 12.12% higher than the accumulated arrivals for the same period last year.

The Philippines is currently enjoying the international attention as a booming tourist destination. With so many hotel rooms being built throughout the country, the foodservice industry is also on an upswing. As WOFEX continues to innovate and respond to the increasing demand, we warmly welcome the addition of The Hotel Show Philippines as a co-located event in an effort to give the HoReCa industry a truly comprehensive platform to source their supply needs.

The Hotel Show Philippines is a fitting opportunity to highlight the growing hotel and leisure opportunities in the Philippines. With an estimated 6.5 million foreign tourists this year (from 5.4 million in 2015) and around 12 million by 2022, firms are ramping up their developments to keep up with the influx of international visitors. In 2017, about 4,200 new hotel rooms are projected to be delivered.
